GoAffPro’s Multi Level Affiliate Marketing: Explained

GoAffPro offers merchants the option to set up a multi-level network for their affiliate program. In a multi-level affiliate network, existing affiliates can recruit newer affiliates under them. The parent affiliate will earn a network commission on the referrals made by the recruited affiliates. The network commission becomes an incentive for existing affiliates to expand their network by recruiting more affiliates under them.

Multi-level marketing also helps merchants who are struggling to find affiliates for their program. In the multi-level system, the job of recruiting new affiliates gets delegated to existing affiliates. A multi-level affiliate network can considerably increase an affiliate program’s performance.

It is essential to know how the multi-level network works and how the commission distribution is done through different levels.

For example: If you have a network A > B > C. Where affiliate A has recruited affiliate B and affiliate B has further recruited affiliate C.
Here, we take a look at how the commission distribution will work:

If affiliate C refers the sale:

Affiliate C will earn the regular commission, affiliate B will earn the level-1 commission, and affiliate A will earn the level-2 commission.

If affiliate B refers the sale:

Affiliate B will earn the regular commission, and affiliate A will earn the level-1 commission.

As per the above examples, it can be observed that the immediate parent of the affiliate (who refers the sale) is the one who earns the level-1 commission. This is generally how the commission distribution works in the multi-level affiliate network.

Another significant aspect of the multi-level affiliate network is the network commission. It is the commission that the upline or parent affiliates earn on the sales that are referred by their downline affiliates.
There are two methods of calculating the network commission:

In the simple method, the network commission is calculated as the percentage of the order value.

For example: If the order value is $100, default commission is 10%, level-1 commission is 5% and the level-2 commission is 2%.

Here, the affiliate who refers the sale will earn $10 (10%), the level-1 affiliate will earn $5, and the level-2 affiliate will earn $2.

In the dynamic method, the network commission is calculated as the percentage of the sale commission.

For example: If the order value is $100, default commission is 10%, level-1 commission is 5% and the level-2 commission is 2%.

Here, the affiliate who refers the sale will earn $10 (10%), the level-1 affiliate will earn $0.5, and the level-2 affiliate will earn $0.2.

The level commission, in this case, is calculated as the percentage of the commission that the affiliate (who refers) the sale earns.

Broadly, the commission distribution and the commission calculation are the two integral parts of the multi-level affiliate network. Merchants should carefully consider these while setting up the multi-level system for their affiliate program.

GoAffPro provides merchants with the option to set up their own multi-level network for their affiliate program. Options such as different commission calculation methods, setting up downlines as customers, and more, allows merchants to tailor it as per their requirements. Check out the app: GoAffPro

Tips on Protecting your Affiliate Program from Fraud

Running an affiliate program can have various challenges. One of these challenges is protecting your program against fraud. For doing this, merchants need to take several safeguarding measures. These measures can have their downsides, as they can include additional work that needs to be done manually.

Here we take a look at some of the measures that merchants can take to protect their programs against fraud or misuse:

Approving/Rejecting Affiliates

Merchants can disable automatic approval of affiliates into their program and should opt for manually approving/rejecting their accounts. The affiliate accounts need to be vetted before they are approved.

For this, merchants can add extra fields to the signup page, to ask for additional information from the affiliates. Affiliates can then be approved/rejected based on this information.

Coupon Code Usage Limits

To prevent misuse of coupon codes, merchants can set up usage limits. While not preventing misuse, these limits do help in reducing them. Limits such as one use per customer or the total number of times the code can be used are some of the usage limits which can be set.

Furthermore, options such as minimum order value, and limiting the coupon usage to certain products can help in this regard as well.

Commission Settings

Merchants can take various steps to ensure that affiliates in their program, don’t misuse it. An important measure to take here is to disable commission on self purchases by affiliates.

Other options such as giving commission only if affiliates refer new customers, etc. can also be used. Stricter commission settings can be accompanied by higher commission rates for successful referrals, to encourage more affiliates to join.

GoAffPro provides merchants with various tools to prevent fraud and misuse. Merchants can disable automatic approval and manually approve/reject affiliates, set up usage limits for coupon codes, and set up options such as disabling commission on self-referrals for affiliates. Top 4 Things to Consider Before Joining an Affiliate Program

It can be difficult to get started as an affiliate at first. While building a following and producing quality content is essential, joining affiliate programs and managing through them is also required.

As a result, affiliates must consider a variety of factors before deciding on an affiliate program to join. Affiliates must carefully consider several key factors before deciding to join a program.

Here we take a look at some of the things that affiliates need to consider before joining an affiliate program:

Commission rate

An essential part of the affiliate program for the affiliate is the commission rate. Affiliates earn a commission on every sale that they refer to the store. Therefore, the commission rate is a vital aspect to consider while signing up for a program.

Commission rates can vary for affiliates, the rate decided by the merchant will depend upon the affiliate’s outreach, followers, and the content that is produced.

Store reputation

A common issue that affiliates face is regarding the payment of their commissions. Some stores tend to be irregular in their payments, it is, therefore, advised to research about the store program, prior to registering.

Regular and timely payments, as well as more choices to receive them, are considered ideal. These also result in a better merchant-affiliate relationship.

Affiliate conditions

Payments are only one aspect, there are plenty of other conditions that the affiliates need to look into. These include minimum payout amount, payment terms, order cancellation policy, etc.

In addition to this, affiliates also need to clear up with the merchant regarding the objectives and the type of promotion that they expect. This will also help in clearing any issues beforehand.

Content promotions

Affiliates must consider the type of content they produce and enter relevant store programs accordingly. If affiliates produce content about fashion or clothing, they can look at store programs that sell clothing.

The same goes for other product categories and niches, affiliates must find and promote products of stores that they are knowledgeable about.

5 Reasons to Choose Affiliate Marketing for Your Business

Affiliate marketing has become one of the preferred ways of marketing for brands and merchants globally. It provides great results and requires little to no money to start.

In affiliate marketing, the affiliate promotes the products of a store and brings in sales. For every referral sale that they bring to the store, they get paid a commission. This way, merchants are assured of sales and only pay the commission after a successful sale has happened.

Here we take a look at some reasons that you should be looking into affiliate marketing for your business:

Beneficial for small/new businesses

Affiliate marketing provides small and new businesses a cost-effective solution for marketing their products. With little to no initial investment needed for affiliate marketing, it makes it a great deal for merchants who are seeking to expand their business and grow.

Economical for merchants

An added benefit of affiliate marketing is that merchants only need to pay the affiliate when they refer a sale successfully. This means, merchants only pay when they get guaranteed returns in terms of actual sales. Such benefits make affiliate marketing quite economical for businesses.

Reach more people

Another advantage of affiliate marketing is that it enables brands, especially smaller ones, to reach a wider audience. Since affiliate marketing involves affiliates promoting brands on social media, businesses profit from a broader reach. It also implies that a greater number of newer customers would visit the store to make a purchase.

Closely tied to influencer marketing

Influencer marketing and affiliate marketing are integrally related. Influencers also receive money or commissions from promotions they run on social media or from their content. Over the last few years, affiliate marketing has grown to incorporate various aspects of influencer marketing and its benefits.

Various tools for affiliates

Affiliates in affiliate marketing may use a variety of methods to generate referral sales, one of which is coupon codes. Coupon codes often boost sales while also attracting new buyers who are unwilling to pay full price for a new product. Discounts inspire them to try out new products and services.

Timely & regular payments

Payments play a significant role in how affiliates feel about a program. It is, therefore, crucial that merchants pay affiliates regularly and on time. The biggest issue that affiliates highlight regarding programs is the payments.

Merchants should establish a plan for regular and timely payments to affiliates. This alone boosts the confidence that affiliates have regarding a program.

Clear and open communication

Merchants must keep an open line of communication with the affiliate of their program. Affiliates should be able to approach the merchant in case of any issues or help.

Merchants, from their end, can use this to send information to affiliates informing them regarding changes to the store or upcoming events. Affiliates can use this to clarify any issues with the promotions or inquire regarding a product.

Provide instructions & resources

Informing affiliates regarding their job and what the merchant expects them to do is necessary. Affiliates should have a clear understanding of what and how they need to promote. It is, therefore, important to provide instructions to the affiliate.

Furthermore, merchants can provide resources, such as promotional images, banners, or even sample products to affiliates, so that they can produce high-quality content according to it.

Tiered Commission System with GoAffPro

Many merchants look to set up commission tiers for their affiliate programs. They look for an option to set up a system where the commission rate for affiliates can change automatically as per the commission tiers.

GoAffPro provides merchants with an easy way of setting up a tiered commission system for their affiliate program. For setting this up, they can use the commission booster option.

Here we take a look at how merchants can set up a tiered commission system using the commission booster option in the GoAffPro app:

Enabling the commission booster option:

The Commission Booster option can only be used after merchants enable the Targets and Bonuses option in the Settings > Extras section (in the GoAffPro app).

After this, they can open the Targets tab and go to the Commission Booster section, to configure a booster from there.

Commission booster settings:

Here, merchants have different parameters for the booster to apply on, such as revenue, sales commission, network commission, total commission, number of orders, and new customer orders. There is also the option to choose the time period for the booster, with options such as current month or week, last 30, 60, or 90 days, last 1 year, and all time.

After this, the option to set the minimum value is given, where the minimum value for the booster to be achieved (as per the parameter). Finally, the boost percentage can be set up, which will be boosting the existing commission of the affiliate (when they become eligible for the boost).

Here we take a look at an example:

If a merchant wants to set up a three-tier commission system, where the commission rate is 10% for the first 15 orders, then the commission will become 15% for the 16-50 orders, and finally, the commission will become 20% when the affiliate crosses 50 orders.

To set up tier one:

For the first tier. merchants can simply set up the default commission to 10%. (The booster will be set only for the second and third tiers).

To set up tiers two and three:

For both the second and third tiers, the “apply on” parameter will be set to the Number of Orders, the time period will be set as All time.

For the second-tier, the minimum value will be set to 16, and the boost percentage will be set as 50%. This will boost the existing commission to 15% (50% of 10 = 5, and final commission after boost = 10+5 = 15%).

Similarly, for the third-tier, the minimum value will be set as 51 and the boost percentage will be set as 50%. This will boost the existing commission to 20% (50% of 10 = 5, and final commission after boosts = 10+5+5 = 20%).

Therefore, as per the above system, affiliates will earn a commission of 10% for the first 15 referral orders, after this, their commission will get boosted to 15% till the 50th order (by the second-tier booster) and finally, the commission will get boosted to 20% (by the third-tier booster) for any orders after that (from the 51st order).

3 Influencer Marketing Tips for Merchants

In recent times, affiliate marketing and influencer marketing have become harder to distinguish. Since social media has become available to more people, affiliate/influencer marketing has become one of the leading ways for people to earn an income by promoting a brand’s products.

Influencer marketing has evolved steadily in the past few years. Using social media, influencers have been able to reach out to a larger audience, far more organically than traditional advertising. This offered a perfect opportunity for brands to reach out to more people using influencers.

Here we take a look at some tips for merchants who are considering using influencers for marketing:

Choosing influencers

It is essential to know the people whom you want to cater to with your products. Accordingly, you will be approaching influencers who create content that suits your product’s marketing. Looking out for influencers does take time, and getting the right one can make a huge difference in how your product reaches the audience.

Merchants do need to be diligent in seeking out influencers that would suit their products and can be used to market their products.

Video content is key

Social media trend is nowadays clearly in favor of video content, and especially shorter-form of videos. In recent times, we have seen platforms like TikTok come up solely as a platform for short-form video content. Similarly, platforms like Facebook and Instagram have also brought in features that cater to this form of video content.

It is therefore necessary for merchants to actively look for influencers who create such video content to reach out to a wider audience.

Partner/collaborate with influencers

In the past, brands would partner with celebrities and athletes to produce a special range of products. In particular, these unique ranges of products would sell well with the followers of that celebrity. This trend has also extended to social media influencers, where brands are tapping into them to create products that appeal to their fans.

Therefore, partnering or collaborating with an influencer to create a special range of products, can yield great returns.

In conclusion, it can easily be said that influencer marketing is only going to grow. It provides a cost-effective and fairly organic way of reaching out to audiences. This is especially true for brands that create products in more niche categories. Merchants should seriously be looking at and considering influencer marketing.

GoAffPro’s Advanced Commission Options

GoAffPro provides merchants a range of customization options. These provide several commission calculation options that allow the merchant to measure the referral commissions according to their preference.

These options help in the commission calculation by taking into account, the discount applied, the shipping fees, and even taxes. These also include the option to add limits on commissions for affiliates on self-referrals or for bringing in new customers.

Here we take a look at these options, and they can help merchants:

Commission calculation options

Merchants can choose from various options to set how the commission on a referral sale gets calculated. Merchants can start by choosing to include discounts from coupon codes (or store discounts) in the commission calculation process, where the total discount gets deducted from the order.

Further options are offered to adjust this option by adjusting the commission, either with the discount percentage, the discount amount or by a custom percentage. Similar options are given, for shipping and taxes where, after deducting those values from the total order, the commission will be calculated.

Disabling or adding limitations on commissions

GoAffPro also provides merchants with the option to disable the commission on self-referrals. This disables the commission on sales that an affiliate makes using their own referral link or coupon code. An additional option is also offered, which disables the commission when the customer is another affiliate in the merchant’s program. By disabling the commission, the order, in this case, will not get recorded within the app.

Furthermore, merchants can also choose to give commissions to affiliates only on the orders made by new customers. It is meant to encourage affiliates to bring in more new customers to your store. For this option, exceptions can be made for particular affiliates in the program.

Automatically approval and rejection of sales

The “Verify Automatically” option is a powerful tool that merchants can use to automate the order approval and rejection process. With this option enabled, GoAffPro will automatically approve or reject sales based upon the current status of the order from the store. It will approve sales that have been processed or paid and will reject sales that have been refunded or canceled.

In the case, where the order gets rejected after the commission has been paid to the affiliate, GoAffPro will automatically credit a negative balance (equal to the commission paid) to the affiliate’s account.

GoAffPro provides advanced options to merchants to choose how commissions will get calculated in their program. These include options to include the discount, shipping or taxes while calculating the commission. There are also options to disable commission on self referrals and automatic approval or rejection of referral orders. Check out the app: GoAffPro
